Janice Curtis Greene

Storyteller

Janice Curtis Greene is a native Baltimorean. She is a wife and mother of three grown sons. She recently retired from the position of Branch Chief in the Office of Systems at the Social Security Administration Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD after 35years of service.

Mrs. Greene is an accomplished storyteller, a griot. She has been telling African, African American and Multicultural stories for over 20 years. She is currently a member of the Griots' Circle of Maryland, Black Storytellersí Alliance, National Storytellersí Network, the National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS) and the Network of Biblical Storytellers and is the resident Griot for the National Association of Black Media Workers in Baltimore.

Janice Curtis Greene has delighted adult and student audiences at various churches, schools, colleges, libraries, hospitals, festivals and gatherings throughout the United States including Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Camden, Los Angeles, Houston, Charleston, Cleveland and New Orleans and as far away as Zambia, South Africa. Janice mesmerizes her audiences with folktales, original stories and original Bible Raps. She is also known for her portrayals of historical African American females such as Harriett Tubman and Mother Mary Lange foundress of the Oblate Sister of Providence the first order of religious women of color in the world.
